By Shaykh Ibn Baaz

….due to a lack of understanding of what is permissible in the Taraweeh and what is not, the prayer may even become a matter of tension; differences become apparent and views are expressed. Personal ideologies start to interfere with the general benefit of the people, and thus, the whole purpose of the prayer is destroyed.

So we deemed it to be in best interest to publish this small but extremely beneficial treatise, as a series of fataawah by our late beloved sheikh, Sheikh Abdul-Azeez bin Baaz, may Allah raise him amongst the prophets and righteous. This treatise clearly demonstrates his wisdom in dealing with affairs which may be points of dispute in the Taraaweeh. He sheds light upon many issues in respect to their permissibility, and one may even find that some issues have much more flexibility than is perceived.

By Ali At-Timimi (May Allah hasten his release from prison..ameen).
In the month of Ramadaan it is very important that we spent a few moments to understand some of the wisdoms and lessons that we can learn from this month of fasting. Unfortunately, many Muslims come in to this month and they are as a companion of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “Let it not be that the day that you fast and the day that you break fast be equal.”

By Kamal El-Mekki
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) addressed his companions on the last day of Sha`ban, saying, “Oh people! A great month has come over you; a blessed month; a month in which is a night better than a thousand months; month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and voluntary to pray by night. Whoever draws nearer (to Allah) by performing any of the (optional) good deeds in (this month) shall receive the same reward as performing an obligatory deed at any other time, and whoever discharges an obligatory deed in (this month) shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time. It is the month of patience, and the reward of patience is Heaven. It is the month of charity, and a month in which a believer’s sustenance is increased. Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without his reward being diminished at all.” [Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah]

Refutation of Zayd Shaakir's 'Introduction to Following a Madhab'

This pathetic attempt to refute the Salafees is found within Zayd Shaakir’s lecture ‘Introduction to following a Madhab’. It is devoid of any actual reference to the Imaams themselves and is well grounded in the tradition of Hamza Yoosuf industry of lectures, and this maybe explains why Zayd Shaakir has become a replica of Hamza Yoosuf!

The clone of Hamza Yoosuf states:

“Many of the people that claim to be salafees, if you ask them why do you mash your feet against the feet of the other guy in the prayer?
Whats your daleel?
How many (salafees) would be able to give you the hadeeth that justifies that practice and the proof of those who argue against it?
Because for your position to be based on knowledge you have to know both, what are your proofs and the proofs of those people that argue against that?….. but if you ask people for those proofs and what’s your daleel (the salafee) says “well, i read it in Naasiruddeen al-Albaanee’s “Pray as you have seen me pray” tayyib, then if you’re following that book and don’t know its proofs you are a muqallid. So the question is would you rather make taqleed of al-Albaanee or Shafi’ee, Maalik, Ahmad or Aboo Haneefah? That becomes a question, and personally I would rather rely on ash-Shafi’ee.”

Shaykh al-Albaanee: Recommends Books For A Young Person That Is Starting Out In His Islaamic Studies

Question: What are the books you recommend a young person that is starting out in his Islaamic studies to read?

Answer: If he is a novice, then from the books of Fiqh, we advise him to read ” Fiqh As-Sunnah” of Sayyid Saabiq, while seeking assistance from some of its references, such as ” Subul-us-Salaam” (of Imaam As-Sana’aanee, rahimahullaah). And if he looks into ” Tamaam-ul-Mannah” (of Al-Albaanee) then that will be stronger for him. And I advise him to read ” Ar-Rawdat-un-Nadiyyah” (of Sideeq Hasan Khaan).

As for the subject of Tafseer, then he should habitually read from the book ” Tafseer Al-Qur’aan-ul-‘Adheem” of Ibn Katheer – even though it is somewhat long – for it is the most authentic from the books of Tafseer today.

Then, on the subject of religious exhortation and heart-softening narrations, he should read the book “Riyaad-us-Saaliheen” of Imaam An-Nawawee.

Then, with regard to the books related to Creed, I advise him to read the book ” Sharh Al-‘Aqeedat-ut-Tahaawiyyah” of Ibn Abee Al-‘Izz Al-Hanafee. And he should seek assistance, also, from my comments and explanations to it.

Then, he should make it his customary practice to study from the books of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taimiyyah and his student Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, may Allaah have mercy on them. For I hold them to be from the rare and unique Muslim scholars that have treaded upon the methodology of the Salaf As-Saalih (righteous predecessors) in their understanding, while having Taqwaa and righteousness. And we do not purify anyone over Allaah.

Shaykh al-Albaanee (may Allaah have mercy on him)
